On April 10, 2020, we lost one of the most powerful women and one of our biggest cheerleaders. Rhonda Harris, better known as Mom, was a 2 Time Cancer Survivor and mother of many. As we packed and cleaned her house, my sister came across a note in a bottle that made our hearts cry: “Don’t let her forget me” the note read. The one person she loved just as much as her own children was her granddaughter Aubrie. Where there was one, you were sure to find the other. A love that was pure at heart. Today my heart smiles as we announce the Rhonda Harris Scholarship starting April 10, 2021. Now, her granddaughter will NEVER forget her name for it will live on throughout this scholarship awarded to someone impacted by Cancer.
Cancer changed the fabric of our family the first day our mother was diagnosed. So many tears trying to plan for what to do next. Nothing could prepare us for what would come, but God kept us going. From being told that she would never speak again to hearing her new voice for the first time. From sending her children to school to becoming the first to graduate from college. Our Mother was stronger than Cancer and showcased her strength through those she inspired daily. We were fortunate enough to give her an amazing 60th surprise party not knowing that it would be her last. We gave Mom her roses while she was here and can continue to Honor her name now that she is gone. Forever Loved and Never Forgotten.
